Oxonarcadia

We've just been to Oxford, and come back again. We wanted to see Fiona and Mike, primarily. Also important were her parents' wonderful arts and crafts house with the opportunity, for a baby, to sit on a lawn and eat leaves and grass (and leaves of grass), and, obviously, wear daisy-crowns. The other thing was May Day, loaded with ritual, and demanding a five in the morning wake up so that we could watch and listen to the choir singing from Magdalen Tower, which, I mean, really, we're up at five every morning anyway with Milo, so this just gave us company.

I will sum up the sentiment of the weekend with a quote from P. G. Wodehouse, "to-morrow'll be of all the year the maddest, merriest day, for I'm to be Queen of the May, mother, I'm to be Queen of the May". Only, in our case, rather in the past tense.
